My question is, when installing recessed lighting can I use lighting designed for non-insulated ceilings, or do I still need to install the bulky IC rated boxes around the lighting? The reason I ask is that the drywall is already up and I want to add 2 more additional lights (I used the boxes for the rest of the basement to be safe).
The product claims it is fire resistent and even shows a picture of a blow torch against the insualtion. The website makes certain claims, but nothing specific to recessed lighting.
Can anyone give me a firm answer on this?
