I have a problem. I am remodeling a bedroom in my second story house. I wanted to save money this year on heating expenses for the winter so I was going to put insulation in the exterior walls because there was none. This house is about 100 years old and has 2 by 4 walls, wide rough cut boards as sheathing, tar paper and clapboard siding on it. My problem is that I left it un-insulated for about a week and the boards became wet and grew mold. I cleaned them off and proceded to dry them out with a fan for about two weeks. They dried fine. I put up the R-13 kraft faced insulation and 1/2 inch drywall. To put my mind at ease, I removed a piece of drywall to see if the moisture returned a couple days later. It did. Roof does not leak, clapboards are fine? I did leave the closet un-insulated and un-drywalled and the boards are dry. Why? Its been cold and rainy for the past week. Humidity inside downstairs is about 70% Could that be a problem? Wicking, condensation?? Help would be greatly appreciated! TY
