How can I tell if there is insulation in my walls. The house sweats. Is hot in the summer , cold in the winter.

I have someone coming to install insulation in the attic.

Please tell me I amdoing the right thing. All homes need insulation right. Will it make the house hotter? Will it help stop the house sweat? Will it keepit cooler in the summer. Thanks all.
