We are in the process of restoring an older, very well built & Insulated home. The Attic has apx 6" of old RockWool which is an excellent insulater & thus I do not really want to remove it, just add to it with blown fiberglass or blankets. However, along with the old RockWool is at least a 60 year accumalation of Peanut Dust. I considered just doing a quick vac & clean of the surface (the dust is loose, not really packed)if I can find a good heavy duty shop vac that will handle a long hose & would probably need a 2 stage motor for this project. My heavy duty model would likely not do the trick without excessive wear, but finding a good rental source may be rather daunting from what I have thus far seen. Any ideas or thoughts on the subject? I don't think the vapor barier is necessary or a big issue in this part of the country (dryer South East Alabama). Suggestions, thoughts, ideas, & experiences are welcome.,

Thank you
