I want to have fiberglass batt insulation installed on my attic floor (over what is already there, I think wool). Got a couple of estimates, and am ready to go. PROBLEM: the access to the attic is through one of two closet ceiling openings, one being 29" x 12" and the other being 19" x 16." The contractor tells me that these holes are too small to get the batts up there (the house has a hipped roof 6/12 pitch). Any suggestions? I'd rather not have the blown-in stuff, but may not have a choice. If I do the job myself, is the stuff at Home Depot easier to handle? Any suggestions at all would be helpful.

I am in a similar situation 7 getting ready to add additional insulation bats in my attic. My access opening is similar to your but slightly bigger & I am thinking I will need to just take each batt up one at a time. i would think your contractor could do this with yours. I mean they are usually only 16" wide. Mine are 16" x 25'. How thick are yours ? Individually they should go through your opening.
