I have a raised ranch style home about 15yrs old in Wisconsin (Cold) winters. I have had an ongoing moisture issue and ice damming problem with my attic/roof system. The general contractor that I have is recommending a "Hot Roof" system that will basically kill (2) birds with (1) stone: Mitigate the mold issue on the underside of the roof decking and eliminate the moisture issue that is the source of the mold problem and ultimately is leading to the ice damming due to poor fibreglass insulation (present system). My question is whether this is the right way to go, or should I go with the more "traditional" attic floor insulation with existing soffit/ridge venting?
