I live in a 90 year old farmhouse with tall but narrow windows. I would like to replace the windows with some that are wider. I'm at best an average do it yourselfer and was wondering how much trouble I'm getting into if I start this myself?
Thanks

Not too much trouble, but it is alot of work. You will be increasing the width of the windows, which will require you to increase the header size. If there are two windows on a wall, I would remove the plaster on the whole wall to save time and to make the job easier. Try to do the framing before you remove the windows, if possible. Give yourself two sunny days for each window until you get the hang of it.
