I have a 1/2 HP Craftsman garage door opener. Not sure about the age as it was installed by a previous owner. The safety reverse feature on it does not work as the door will not reverse itself when it hits an object in its path. Is this easy to fix? What can I do?

It has an adjustment to increase or decrease the pressure sensitivity. Have you tried turning that screw-type adjustment? If that doesn't do it, look inside by removing the cover. If any obviously broken or damaged parts, especially in the area of that adjustment, you can order parts for that unit at http://www3.sears.com/.
