trying to replace an old aluminum(?) framed
casement window with a sears double hung window. but casement window has an approximate 1" deep anchor lip that extends into the bricks and window sill.
what's the best way to remove the casement window and its frame without tearing apart the
entire window frame?
thanks for any help.

IS THERE A WOOD FRAME AROUND THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE CASEMENT?

no. just bricks and a stone window sill on
the outside. plaster & tiles (it's a
bathroom window) on the inside.
i took out the sill to get a good look at
the casement window's position.
talked to my neighborhood hardware store
guy. who advised me what was the only
solution i could figure out: cut the
steel frame and collapse it inside the
brick entourage to preserve the hole.
then, i could install the double hung
window in place of the casement.
