I have just moved in to a two year old home. The lawn is not thriving and I need some help bringing it to a full dark green lush lawn. I have already put down a slow release fertalizer. The soil mixture underneath is probably 20 percent topsoil and 80 percent clay. Does this have anything to do with its demise?

You did not indicate where you live or what kind of grass that you have.

The proper care and schedule of fertilzer and treatment will vary drastically depending on your climate and type of grass.

Contact your county extension office and get their flyer on proper lawn care. It will be specific for your area and type grasses.

Also, for a very nominal fee, they can run a full soil analysis. They will also tell you how to take the sample.
