We are still waiting for Ryan Homes to replace on window that is definitely defective. The guy that came to look at it filled a space on the window with caulk. I almost flipped out. Brand new window and they're filling it with caulk to keep the cold air out. They told us they would replace it....still waiting a year later. Come to find out Energy Star means absolutely nothing. A company can pay $350 for the Energy Star Name. Now the latest thing is Performance Energy Star. This is supposed to be better...who knows like I said before, it's a joke!

- Patriot windows - any good?
We had 75% of our windows replaced because every large window in our horrible Ryan Home did not lock properly. In fact it was almost impossible in almost every window. I did finally kick up enough of a fuss and threaten BBB as well as the New Jersey new home group (New Jersey has additional protection for homebuyers of new homes which is a pretty strong threat) and our Project Manager finally agreed to bring out the owner of the framing company and two managers from Patriot. The Patriot managers identified that all our large windows were incorrectly sized and so we got 75% of our windows replaced. They are still terrible windows.
I just wanted to share how I got the first round of bad windows addressed. Now I will have to ask for the upgraded windows mentioned above. Again the BBB and NJ homeowners will be pulled into the conversation. At this point I just want money from Ryan homes so I can replace these windows with actual quality windows.

Stay far away from Patriot windows, they may be cheap but you are getting even worse quality than what you're paying for. Spend a little extra money take your time and get good windows with a good warranty installed. In my previous home we purchased high quality replacement windows with a lifetime warranty, custom windows. The company responded immediately to any warranty requests (we cracked a latch they replaced in less than a week). Patriot windows is a nightmare to deal with and my windows are only 2 months old! I had the 6 month old windows replaced.
If you call Patriot at 800-220-2021 and tell them your zip code, they will tell you who you can order them through. 84 Lumber in MD is one location...
2 years ago we replaced all our windows with a company called paramount improvements along with a 50 year warranty. Well since then last year this company has gone out of business. We are now having a little trouble with one of our windows. I know they used patriot windows. Do they stand behind this warranty now or am I sol?
Ditto. We have a Ryan home with Patriot windows. They are junk. Drafts, condensation, just as above. We had one large window fail with streaks inside. Patriot did send a new window but I had to pay $500 to have it installed.
