Hi,
Our 1858 house has several...ok, alot of doors, that are four panel original wooden doors. Many have been painted several times. Most of these have at least one panel of the four which seems to be shrinking and pulling from the inside of the door towards the outer edges. I can see where the paint is pulled away from the center of the frame on these panels. I am probably describing this poorly, but it is as though the panel is now 1/8" too small for the frame. No daylight shows anywhere and they are all basically intact and true, so I don't think I need to replace any of them... but is the house trying to tell me something? Someone told me to add a humidifier in the winter as the house may be too dry and the doors have started to shrink (after 150 years!). Any ideas, thoughts?
Thanks
