I've noticed that BY FAR, the number of posts with questions about troublesome garage door openers are about Craftsman openers.
Can anyone shed light on whether that's because there are more Craftsman openers than all others put together, or are Craftsman openers just more troublesome?

I disagree with you Piffin. I sold Craftsman GDO's (garage door openers) for over 24 years and I did find that most of the problems came from DIY'ers who should have never attempted to install them in the first place..We used to shutter when we would ask the customer if we could install it for them and their answer would be, "I should be able to do it because I'm an Engineer". Also, the Craftsman brand sells 10 times as many openers as the competition. Just like Sgt. Friday says' just the facts, ma', man...

I agree with Bill, if you sell more than anyone else to DIY's, you are bound to hear more about problems.
