Need some helpful advice - I wish to build a raised planting bed against the North wall of my zone 4 home. The house is a walk out rambler with the walk-out on the South side. Hence, the North wall of my basement (underground) would become the South wall of the raised bed (the part of it that is currently above ground). My question is what may be needed by way of protecting the house from the water/mud/insects that would naturally be in the planting bed? My basement has otherwise been dry with the northwall keeping out water runoff from excess rain (my of my friends in zone 4 have had water seep in!).
Thanks much in advance for your input,
