I recently had a water pipe breakage and was told all my plumbing is bad. I am on a slab and have many vaulted ceilings. I had heat/AC installed in the west end of the house but have continued using a boiler for heat in the east end of the house. No AC, just overhead fans.
They are going to re-plumb my house tomorrow. All the water damage has been removed and I will have that redone as soon as the plumbing is complete.
My question now is, should I install a heat/AC unit in the east end of the home and do away with the boiler and radiators? I don't know if they plan on retrofitting the pipes to the radiators. If they are, it is possible that it wouldn't be much more expensive to have the heat/AC installed now.
I hope you might give me some good advice.

I am a firm believer heating should be hot water or settle for steam and AC should be separate .
Scorched air systems (hot air) is possibly the worst of both worlds using the same duct work for both.
Rule of thumb a great conductor of electric is a great conductor of heat
Copper great for electrical and conveying heating water if properly designed
Air terrible conductor of electric and even worse for hearting unless someone loves the hospital dry air cough and doesn't mind dust mites in their ducts and has to replace filters
Cast Iron radiators and cast Iron baseboard really hold the heat are one very comfortable system and one can play lots of games such as non electric zone valves to fine tune mistakes made by an inept installer IF it is a two pipe system
