I am a bit embarrased to say I can't figure out how to remove the lower sliding window of a single pane aluminum frame double hung window. I just want to remove to clean the window. There are some plastic pieces I have unscrewed at the bottom, but that didn't do it.

Thanks for any help!

Is this a double hung window or a slider?
It almost seems like you are describing a storm combination window which are normaly AL when configured to match the interior double hungs.

With these, there is always a slide bar at the bottom of the sash unit that slide toward the center of the window. You have to press a button or latch first.

Thanks for the reply! Actually, this is not a storm window, it is a cheap southern california aluminum window build about 1990. These don't seem to have a slider bar. Any ideas?
