I am planning on building a log home in the next two years so I am starting to research. Can anyone tell me the advantages/disadvantages of an Aluminum exteror, like that on a Pella window over a Vinyl exterior such as the Anderson 400 series Does Anderson have something with thier specific type vinyl composite on the 400 series casement and double hung line? A salesman at HD told me that alum can produce more condensation than a vinyl. Any insight is appreciated. Thanks in advance. DRL

I believe that they are both made of wood with either vinyl or aluminum cladding so condensation should not be much of a problem. If their is excessive condensation than you should search out the cause of it and correct it. I have pella and prefer the aluminum over vinyl. Neither is very easy to paint if you ever decide to however the aluminum would be easier to paint since I do not believe that vinyl is paintable. I think anderson are good however they are overated in my opinion. Good luck !
