installing vinyl replacement windows
About 6 months ago my husband and I had some contractors install replacement windows in a rental property and we wanted to learn how so we watched them and did 6 windows ourselves. They came out great. But here's my question: They installed the windows from the inside and whenever I see instructions for installing windows it shows them doing it from outside. We want to do it inside because we have high 2nd story windows and don't want to get on ladders to do it. Are there certain types of windows that you buy to install inside? I know I could buy the same kind we had before but they were expensive and we want to keep down costs this time.
Replacement windows can be installed either way. On ground level it is easier and quicker to work from the outside. From the outside you have to takeout and replace the square stop then throw some paint on it and you’re done.
From the inside you replace the window stop and paint and or stain to match the rest of the window molding. One advantage of working outside is that you do not disturb the finish molding on the inside. But on the second floor I would work from the inside for safety reasons.
