Bvwindows
We bought a house built in 1981 with all casement windows. The windows in the living room have a long window ledge under 5 separate windows. Because of this ledge, the cranks can only make a half turn, then we have to remove the crank handle, reset it and make another half turn to open or close the windows. The ledge is beautiful so we don't want to remove it. Is there a crank handle that is round? (So we wouldn't have to remove it each time we close the blinds.) Or an extension? The longer cranks we have found are not long enough. Thanks

There are a couple of options. We found a couple of small handles for our bathroom (they're about 2" across) that replace the standard crank handles. We like these 'cause they don't stick out and get in the way of window blinds.

Another option: An extender that replaces the handles altogether. It's meant to be used from a distance; it's like a long tube with a crank on the end of it (I've seen maybe 3' long, to maybe 8' long, depending on your application). You replace the existing crank with what looks like a 6-sided nut--which the long handle turns. You can just get the shortest one you can find; they work like a champ!

We've had ours for several years; not sure where to find but they are out there. I'd think either of these options beats taking out that beautiful woodwork....good luck!
