Am replacing Rivco Windows, need to understand what U-Value means?
Goal: Windows get all afternoon sun and I'm trying to block as much UV as I can. Problem with existing windows is that Sun is damaging family room furniture. Rivco makes a Low E Argon Gas filled replasement sash that has a U-Value of 0.35.
What does that mean? that it blocks 65% of the UV rays?

As far as I understand NO- the U-value does not have anything to do with the the UV rating. It is the opposite of R-value or the insulating properties. The higher the R value, the lower the U value. And visa-versa. U-value is the rate of heat loss. Andersen sells a window with a high performance sun low e glazing. check this link out to learn more:

Try www.PPG.com. They are one of the largest glass companys out there, and they have a good section for homeowners and residential glass. This should help you to understand U values.
However, since it sounds to me like you are having issues with the sun, there are some window companys who make products with two coating of LowE2 which is the best thing for blocking the UV rays. You can try www.alside.com. They have a glass option (I think they call it Climetech 2) available in most of their windows with argon gas and two coating of their version of LowE2.
