I have a 3 yr. old house and on the kitchen backsplash away from the stove, oily spots appeared in the first year we were in. I washed the wall and reprimed with Kilz and then painted it again. It is bleeding through again, and I don't know where it is coming from. It cannot be water, because there are no pipes in the location where they are bleeding through. We do not have a leak outide either. Could our contractor have used damaged drywall? When we were building there was a rumor going around about cheap drywall from China being circulated and we warned him about this, but don't now what he used. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you tell me if you used a water or oil based Kilz ? Oil based would cover oily areas best.

Chinese drywall was imported from 2001 to 2007. The most common problems are unusual odors, copper corrosion in electrical, plumbing and Hvac systems and some health issues.
