We are in the closing process of a new home (to us). The home is split level with the master on all of the top floor and has been updated. The door going outside is currently blocked off due to the option of putting in a deck outside of the bedroom upstairs. However, with the 2000 sq ft home only having 2 br and 1 bath we want to add on with a room addition downstairs and the deck above it upstairs. The question I have is, Is it better to build the deck portion first or the room addition first? My better judgement says the room addition and then the deck above it, but would like a second opinion on this matter.

Thanks,
SR

I would have to agree with your better judgement and build the addition first. Once the addition is finished, you could build the deck accordingly.
It would probably be a good idea to come up with a game plan for the addition and the deck before hand.
Hope this was helpful
Good luck
