Bvplumbing
Hello today I had a plumber out (through my home warranty company) because when I flush my master bathroom toilet it made a gurgling noise and drained the water from my guest bathroom (and vice versa). The plumber said my house was vented poorly when built so they installed Studor Vents, of course my Home Warranty said they dont cover that and the plumber wanted like $300+ to replace them, but he told me I could just go to homedepot or lowes and pick some up and replace them myself. I went over to Lowes and got 3 of these (http://www.lowes.com/pd_29145-143-82678K_4294820780_40?productId=1081741) Keeney Mfg. Co. Plastic Mini Air Admittance Vent I replaced all the upstairs ones and then got 1 of these (http://www.lowes.com/ProductDisplay?partNumber=24372-143-85539K&langId=-1&storeId=10151&productId=1069119&catalogId=10051&cmRelshp=req&rel=nofollow&cId=PDIO1) Keeney Mfg. Co. Plastic Mechanical Plumbing Air Admittance Vent to replace the Kitchen one while I was at it.

My bathroom don't seem to be gurgling anymore and the water isn't lowering from the other toilet now.

My question is do these normally go bad? Is there really much difference between the $25 I got for the upstairs and the $5 I bought for the kitchen sink? I've owned this TH for about 2 years now, but I'm concerned this could be an issue if I'm constantly replacing them.

Thanks

Hey Larry, the great part about AAV's is the dummies depend on a piece of rubber for integrity and over the years the rubber either dries out of a some type of creature such as a bug prevents the cheap flapper from closing

Now these folks are exposing their children and the rest of the family to carcinogenic and flammable fumes

This is the same folks that when they start to die off from various cancers make the Darwin awards.

Not only are they out there they actually breed and vote and this explains why the USA has over 47 million morons on food stamps as the sewer fumes affected their ability to find a job

Everyone has their own opinion, depending on what state they live in. Northerners seem to hate them. We live in Florida and they meet code here. They work fine and for the cost difference, it's a better option. I've only had to replace 1 mini Studor in probably 10 years, and have never had an odor problem.
From many years of experience, I say use them if they meet your state code requirements.

People are old in Fla so death is not that long off so AAV wont affect them
