I would like to put a new style roof on my house. It's regular pitch(basically) now, and I'd like to make it higher(and steeper) and then a low pitch like a barn roof . Then maybe some dormers on the each side. Currently the attic area has two rooms that are great for small kids. I'd like to increase the height of the walls and increase the ceiling height. I was thinking about using prefab roof trusses. any advice or comments

Hey, that sounds good. If you raise the roof up higher and add dormers, it will be alot better for your kids as they get taller.
I would definitely go with pre-fab trusses if possible.
If your home is 2 or 2 1/2 story you will have to consider raising them up to the roof also.
Are you planning on doing this yourself or are you hiring a contractor?
It's going to be a pretty big project.
