Following flooding of 5 inches of water in our basement, we tore up the carpet & padding and had the bare concrete cleaned & treated with an antimicrobial spray or liquid. A white powdery substance appeared in places, mainly ones that were bare with no prior paint residue. There was also some gray dustlike substance in one corner area. In all instances it seems the stuff has grown up through the porous regions of the concrete floor.
Any ideas on what it is? We are about to put down new padding and carpet.
