Hi! I am in the process of killing the small lawn we have in order to remove it and then install a paver patio. I have completely covered it in black plastic at this time. The lawn itself is only about a year old, but has many weeds and clover in it. This area gets the most heat since it is south facing. How long should I leave the plastic on to actually kill the lawn? Once it is dead I will dig out the lawn and spray it with a complete ground clear since we will be placing the paver patio there and not planting any of it. Thanks for any help or suggestions!

- Killing, Removing Lawn to Install Small Paver Patio
why does the lawn need to be dead to remove it? are you trying to be humane?
You will have to remove some soil and the lawn anyway, so why not just dig it up?
There no good reason to pollute the planet with unneeded herbicides that will end up as run off, possible killing your neighbers lawn. (happened to me when spraying patch of ivy)

My husband thought it would be easier to dig up once it was dead. Have we just added an unnecessary step to the process? The lawn is not near any of our neighbors property, but what would you suggest for sterilizing or preparing the soil before putting in the pavers to kill off any seed in the soil? Or does one not have to do that since we will be setting down sand, pavers, etc.? Thanks.
