I recently repaired some of my basement drain. the old pipe was cracked so I broke up part of the concrete and replaced 3feet with new PVC. since cementing the floor back in I have been getting water in that corner of the basement. before there was always a little section in the corner that was dirt. I now understand why. there is a floor drain near that corner. my question is if I add another drain closer to where the water is do I have to put a trap on it being as there is another drain and trap down further?

As long as the sewer gasses are blocked by a different trap or this is part of your drain tile system then you don't have to.

When installing floor or storm drains you can normally tie them all in to one trap prior to connection to the sanitary line. Of course local codes must be checked first

You do not want to double trap a drain
