I want to find a replacement vinyl window where the color will match the color of the house.

White vinyl would not match the house at all.

Is there a company that makes vinyl windows in different colors or vinyl windows that can be

painted( seems to defeat the purpose)

John, the main window types out there are wood, clad/wood, vinyl, fiberglass, and metal. You indicated you would like vinyl windows but in a non-white color. Vinyl is available in an almond color. If you'd prefer anything else in a non-wood and non-metal window, you have two main choices: fiberglass or vinyl. Almost all vinyl window manufacturers stay away from medium to dark colored extrusions because they can develop problems - both fading and heat-related sagging from the colors absorbing more heat because they're dark. There are some vinyl window manufacturers that will however provide alternate colors. I'd prefer not to mention them specifically by name because I believe they will develop problems over time. Vinyl however is a great choice in almond or white. Hopefully the almond color would work for you. Fiberglass windows however are a great choice! They are stronger than vinyl, more impact and scratch resistant, expand/move significantly less, are not wood, come in many colors including very dark colors without problems, and can be painted. Some of the major fiberglass manufacturers include Pella, Comfortline, Marvin, and Milgard. I'd highly recommend one of them for non-wood windows in non-white colors!

there are many reasons why vinyl does not come in different colors, first any colors darker than white absorb heat, similar to wearing white vs. darker colors in the summer. Vinyl does not react well to heat and changes it's

physical structure beyond 90 degrees. That is why an uncladded, sole vinyl window core can only be white, if it conducts to much heat it can fail earlier thatn anticipated. Also vinyl can not be painted. Composites are better, be carefull, after a sound product is chosen, installation is another factor.

There are very few vinyl window companies making them because painted vinyl has had issues with color retention.

Kolbe & Kolbe makes a very good vinyl replacement window that has an option of 20 or so colors the window can be painted, either inside or out. The finish is called Hydroflex, and is heat refelective to retain the color.

They are sold through Kolbe dealers across the country. Check their website for locations near you.
