If I need to provide the Linear Feet of my building's Plate Glass, I simply measure from Top to Bottom (ie Length), NOT from Side to Side (ie Width)...yes or no? Now that I have Linear Feet, that does not really give me the info needed to actually replace that Plate Glass, if some panels are 3ft wide and others 4ft, etc...yes or no? So, what is reason for determining Linear Feet instead of Square Feet??

You question is actually math and not window or door related. I suggest maybe postin this sort of question in a math forum.

Square footage is width times hight. Linear footage is the length of either end and it doesn't matter.
