I would like to install UV film on my windows to stop fading of my rugs and artwork. The marketing strategy of 3M manufacturerd films is that they are the best, especially when it comes to scratch resistance. Howerver, 3M is only available thru an authorized dealer, and they perform the install... for a lot of money.

Does anyone have any experience or knowledge about the do-it-yourself products like Gila (offered thru Lowe's)? Are any of them as good as 3M? Is 3M mostly hype?
