I am familar with both companies. H*****s purchases their product from republic windows out of IL. Wallside is a MI based manufactor. H*****s Iq glass does not exist it is a name they created to say they are the only ones that have it. The climaguard that wallside gets from guardian glass right here in MI has beter properties than what h*****s calls iq just review the #s Google the names of the glass. Hands down Wallside makes a better windo, better installs, better warrenty.

I've not heard of Great Lakes windows. Are they in Michigan? Where would I find them?

Also, I've been looking for inside 'storm windows' that use acrylic, and have magnetic seals around the window to insulate. I had them in a previous place I owned in the '90s...Sears used to sell them, but I don't think they do anymore. Anyone know where to find them?

Great Lakes are made in Toledo, Ohio and are a upper middle of the road vinyl window. The parent company also makes a series called the Uniframe and another one called Plygem. These two windows on a scale of one to ten in the vinyl window business are a strong eight, both premium windows. The downside to any Great Lakes product is price. In each different series that they make you can find a comparable for 10% less from many reputable window companies. Magnetic storms are not reasonably priced any more and a premium aluminum storm which will give you many more years of service, should be considered.The inside steel framed units held in place by a magnet applied some where on your wood work are also a bad bet because the adhesive on the back of the magnet has a shot term effective life.
