Looks like plain jane white doors and window trim and the house looks (in the picture) sort of off-white/yellow/cream.

Is there exposed rafters I see painted brown with a shingle roof?

For some ummph perhaps some dramatic trim and door colors for that ummph, more bang for the buck and more ummph.

Power washing the driveway, especialy those stains under and behind the yellow car, possibly even staining (using the multi-toned staining method so it looks more like natural stone) the concrete driveway with another interesting umph shade for drama (consider the walk path materials mentioned later regarding coordinating the look).

Possibly reconsidering that plant/tree which does nothing to harmonize or flatter the detail of the house (in fact hides the bay window isn't balanced in its placement and just brings attention to the driveway and garage doors)...and doing some serious organized and well planned landscaping, possibly some berm/raised planting areas and bringing a serpentine walk path to the front entry with a companion snaking path to the drive. More bang for the buck, more umph, more curb appeal and well planned and chosen now, will continue to increase in value as it matures.

A few dollars now spent for a professional landscape designer to draw up a master plan could be a fantastic return on your investment for something dramatic and distinctive. You could ask your designer/planner to propose a layered stage plan so you could work in stages as your energy, time, and budget allows, beginning with your main specimin tree work and walkway/entrance enhancement first. Could be done all this year, or in stages over the next few years. Introducing colors, depth, and textures with a design plan to enhance the attributes and detract/minimize the negatives, and adding interest and enjoyment.

thank you for the comment. i am planning on resaling the driveway and landscaping the yard but right now i'm just working on the house itself.

i just don't like the spot in the centre of the house that is all siding. it bugs me and i want something there so it feels a bit more made up.

You have what appears a service entrance/masthead connection in the area. You have to leave that alone, can't have a window, faux or not there.

Frankly doing much of anything in that area wouldn't be wise.

If you work with the color first, then frame/accent with appropriate landscaping, do something better with that awful fencing line, etc. perhaps an applied thing that interests you, like a placcard or decorative thing mounted. Whatever strikes your fancy, a large 3-D Butterfly made from copper taking on a nice patina for example; I don't know, something that interests YOU, says something about you and your family's personal style?

Can't see the overhead service lines well in the pic, perhaps a flag/pennant, something again that expresses your family's personal style, also bold enough to draw one's (un-obstructed by that tree/overgrown shrub nearest the right side of the driveway) away from the mass of the driveway and garage doors, and towards the main entrance and living area of the home.

i'm not sure what you mean by service entrance/masthead connection. there are powerlines that extend from the roof of my house but other than that nothing that i can think of.

i am going to get rid of that bush/tree near the driveway. also we're taking out the trellace and we're going to put a nice pond and sitting area. i'm going to put a little green inbetween the house and the sidewalk entrance in the house so there will be a nice area to plant flowers (breaking up the existing sidewalk at the moment) and of course restaining the fence. i have all these ideas but it's just the plainness of the building itself is what bugged me. i guess i have no choice but to leave it alone. i've seen some faux vent-like things and i might put something there but we'll see.
