Craftsmand garage door opener remotes (#139.53681B...FCCID HBW1255) will only open garage door if the nose of the car is within a few feet of the garage door. On either remote you have to click several times and/or open the window and stick the remote out the window of the car.

New batteries were put in recently to see if that would take care of the problem with no success.
