I have a pair of french doors to my den. The panes are glass and one of the glass panes is broken. The doors look similar to this set at Lowe's http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=30989-74391-30989&lpage=none.
How do I replace the glass pane without destroying the door? I cannot seem to be able to remove the wooden molding surrounding the glass. I realize that one side should be removable but I cannot seem to get any loose.

I never realized a ceramic dropped bowl could bounce to hit a low window.
I thought it would be easy as I had replaced several exterior window panes on my house. I also could not figure out how to remove the trim without ruining the door.
I could go on and on.
But it turns out the door factory glued and bisquited the trim to make it extra sturdy. (Not good for wanting to take it apart.
I had a friend who specializes in odd jobs take a look.
He took a look took it off the hinges and took it home.
Was back very soon. He broke the glass the rest of the way. Chiseled out the trim. went to the hardware store and bought a new piece of trim that I destroyed and primed the trim.
all that was left for me to do was paint the trim when it dried.
So I guess the simple answer was to completely remove the pane first.
That said if you have little kids in your house or don't like working with broken glass. Call in a friend or pro.

Most french doors, (interior and exterior) will be glazed with caulk. Silicone works best but may contaminate wood, so most company's use latex caulk. Latex caulk is very difficult to (cut-out). score with razor knife, then take 4" drywall knife and hammer and (gently) tap between glass stop and glass. Breaking seal on both sides.
