I replaced the gear/sprocket assembly in a 1/2 horse craftsman opener and now the door only goes 1/2 way up. I realized that the chain was not in the same position after I re-assembled everything as it was before. Is the opener caught in mid-cycle? Do I need to unattach the chain, let the opener run through a complete cycle, and reattach the chain in the position it was to begin with?

All you need to do is reset the travel limit assembly. The travel limits tell the opener how far the door should travel up and down.
