I am in the process of renovating a 1908 Four Square and am looking at different window options that have the wood interiors. Windsor's Pinnacle series and Quaker's Brighton series are two that I am giving serious consideration to. Has anyone had good or bad experiences with either of these brands or is there another comparably priced brand out there that I should be looking at?

I would stay away from Windsor. We have not had a very good experience with ours. If you read further down in this group you will see my complaints and some others who have also had problems with Windsor.

We have sold Windsor for 6 years now and have not had problems with the product or getting service from the company. In fact 70 - 80% of the problems people have with any brand window out there is due to improper installation. You wouldn't believe how many times we have gone out on issues and find that the problem was due to installation. We even had 1 homeowner call us because none of her Windsor Double-Hung windows would operate. Took the window rep out and discovered that the windows had been painted dsuring construction and then the sashes had been placed in the frames and the paint dried and the sashes stuck to the frame and wouldn't raise and lower. We have even heard of windows being installed backwards with the exterior of the window facing the interior of the house. You would be amazed at what we see.

Windsor also is very competitive in pricing. I just got done comparing their price with Andersen, Jeld-Wen, & Peachtree. Jeld-Wen's Traditon Plus - Premium Series was priced by Home Depot and came in at $18,202.22 before taxes. Andersen Architectural Series was priced by a local company and they came in at $21,171.10 before taxes. We also are able to quote Peachtree 700 Series Windows and they came in at $21,171.58 before taxes. Windsor which is our primary line came in at $17,523.98 before taxes. I am still waiting on prices from Lowe's and a couple other places.

I have good experiences with Quaker Brighton windows. They look very nice and have good energy efficiency. My friends stay one night in my house, they are amazed about how quite it was at night. FYI, I live in St. Louise....
