Changed the battery, and it worked. Then it stopped working. Changed the battery again, and it worked for 2 or 3 times, then it stopped. Took out the battery, re-hooked it up within 30 seconds, and it worked, for 2 or 3x, then it stopped. Any suggestions?

Oh, its a craftsman, about 8 years old.
