I have a 15 year old sears 1/2 hp garage door opener.
The glass is broken on 1 of the electric eyes I have mounted a couple of inched from the garage floor...I want to disable the electric eye system until I can replace the broken eye.....the only way i can close the door right now is to pull the disconnect lever or hold the wall button in until the door is all the way closed....cannot close with the remote. I have tried to cut the wires on both eyes and twist both sides together thinking that will bypass but it does not work
is there a way??
thanks in advance !!

- want to disable electric eye in garage door opener
I don't think anyone is going to tell you how to disable one of the primary safety devices on your garage door.
If they did they could be setting themselves up for a liability law suit.
Pull the release and use the garage door as a manual system until you get it repaired. (remember you will need to lock it)
