Did this about 15 years back on a stone fireplace and it really cleaned it up. Just used TSP and alot of elbow grease and then rinsed with clean water. Make sure you wash from the bottom up or you will have a real hard time getting the bottom to clean up from the running streaks that will occur. Hope this helps.
