While trying to remove a bulb from an old outdoor light fixture, the bulb broke, and the metal base stayed in the fixture. Any ideas on how to get it out of there?

Hi Rosalie, first cut the power to that fixture then using needle nose pliers grasp the metal base and simply turn, it should come out very easily. Good luck!

As a potentially safer way, try using a potato. Simply find one with a fairly small end, and push that end into the socket. Then twist as if it were a light bulb.

Unlike pliers, you won’t be risking bending any of the light fixture.
