My fiance and I recently purchased a home. The house does not need major work, but does need some basic work. We have no tools. What are some good basic tools that we should invest in: saws, sanders, etc...? Any help would be appreciated! -Steve

Hi Steve, this is kind of tough to answer but I'll give it a try anyway. First, make friends with the older neighbors, they can come in handy when you don't have a specific tool, now for the list of what I'd call "basic". Claw hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, tape measure, drill and bits, circular saw, hand saw, putty knife, wrenches, multi-meter, workbench, bench vise, paint roller, brushes, SAFETY GLASSES. The list goes on and you'll always get into some situation where you won't have a specific tool and have to go out and buy it on the spot. Oops, almost forgot the most basic of them all, "beer cooler"! Good luck!
