Hello...

I'm a first-time homeowner, and I have to admit that all those years of apartment living have left me without any household common sense. I'm looking for a general purpose homeowner's manual or reference. I'm not so interested in fix-it or do-it-yourself books, but something more geared towards advice on how to maintain the home. Any suggestions?

Thank you...

Well, we all started off not knowing much so join the crowd.Actually, reading the do it yourself books will give you an idea as to the important maintenance items and also things to look for to avoid problems.Even if you don't do the work yourself, you'll be better informed if a contractor tries to take you to the cleaners.
I refer to The Readers Digest Homeowners Do It Yourself book quite often, but I'm sure you'll find something to suit your particular taste at a good bookstore.
