Hi,

I received an old Craftsman Eager 1 mower with a broken starter (model 917.383242). I downloaded the parts list and the diagram from the Sears Parts site but they don't include instructions on opening up the center mechanism to replace one of the small springs that hold small prongs that extend from the center. They sell the springs (#7 on diagram) for $3 each. The whole starter costs $43 so it would be nice to install the small parts since I'm not even sure the mower works well. Do you know how to get into the mechanism? I think it means I have to somehow remove the hollow split tube in the center but I don't have a clue. Thanks.
