I am redoing my kitchen and would like to change the counter top look. Can I put new Laminate over the old that is on the present counter top. If so how or what do I need to do to prepare the surface?

You can also paint your counter. I have a friend that did theirs and it looks really good. All they did was put a coat of primer, then paint, and then put 4 coats of polyurethane. It looks awesome and I think cost around $50 for the entire kitchen (they have a lot of counter space). I think they used some kind of crackle paint too, just for a little extra touch.

You don't say what is on the the counter top right now, but IF it is laminate right now would Whiteyron still want to put new laminate over top of that. It seems that laminate starts coming unglued in spots after too many years. It seems to me you would still come unglued after too many years.
