Just my opinion, but a pool of that age must have some problems. Wait until you sign anything so you can get an independent inspection of the pool. The previous homeowners will not tell you diddly. Inground pools require much more maintenance then above-ground pools. Chlorine takes it's toll on pumping components and rubber O rings. As far as the concrete goes, it may be fine if it was a good pour and sealed and weatherized each season.

I agree with PlumberTom. I wouldn't buy a house that I wasn't able to inspect all components. That could get quite costly to fix.

If you are hellbent on buying the house without inspecting the pool maybe you could do some private investigating and call local pool companies to see if the pool has ever had problems. I don't know if they could tell you that or not.

I have to vote against buying the house during the winter.
