I have an old solid wood chest of drawers that has been in my bedroom since I was an infant (more than 30 years). Recently, one of the drawer handles broke. The brass handle that lifts and pulls simply pulled out of its base due to wear and tear over the years.

The piece easily slides back into place; however, it is so worn that it will not stay. Is there any substance that can be used to build up the brass tap so that I can slide it back into place and make it functional again?

The handle designs are so odd, that I would never be able to find something that would allow me to replace all of them (the handle bases are inset in 3.5 inch holes in the front of each drawer).
