I recently recieved an old craftsman model 315.11850 circular saw. who ever had it before me had a 4 1/2" metal cutting wheel on it. I somehow managed to get it off, but now I can't get a regular sawblade on. There is no blade lock button, and when I try to tighten the bolt down the shaft just spins. Any help?

Have you tried blocking the blade with a chunk of wood? Also, sometimes blades have a hole, so it might be possible to lock with a nail.

the bolt that goes through the blade into the shaft that turns it is the problem I think. when I try to tighten the bolt the shaft on the otherside also spins so it won't even tighten down on the blade at all. perhaps if the bolt was somewhat tight on the blade I could lock the blade up, but the blade is loos so everything just turns. thanks for the reply
