To All - hi, if you're a veteran (active duty like me, or retired, or Reserve/National Guard), have proof of being a veteran, or are the family member of a veteran - H-ome D-epot is offing a 10& discount on purchases this weekend. Go to the Special Services desk, show them your proof (ID card, DD 214, etc.), and they'll give you a discount coupon to use when checking out. The offer's good until close of business on Monday evening. It's valid for a single receipt, in-store purchase with a maximum discount of $200 off a $2,000 purchase. They've done this before but I didn't get the notice of this until late yesterday.
To all veterans regardless of branch or how long you served - thank you! Some of you endured much more in a shorter period of time than I have in my nearly 31 years of active duty Air Force service. You've made my life easier because you fought for and earned the respect of a grateful nation. You didn't always want to go where you were being sent, but you went because that's where your nation sent you. You missed countless holidays, birthdays, and other special events your families were enjoying, but you were always in their hearts and prayers. My 6 years of overseas duty pale in comparison to your serving in war zones and the like. Thank you for your service, my brothers- and sisters-in-arms! TPerez - nice to see you posting, I hadn't seen you for a while...Semper Fi, my friend! (Although I'll be retired by then, my HQ is one of the units proposed to move from Andrews AFB to Quantico under the BRAC!) Jim D/West Point, VA

- Vets - 10% Discount at H-ome D-epot This Weekend
Jim D,
Thanks for the heads up on the H.D. As luck would have it (The wifes luck that is.) I have a rather large project in the works. I believe I will have to go pick up some materials. Thank you for noticing my absence. I really didn't expect to be noticed, that was nice. Thank you for your service to our country and Congratulations on your retirement.
I would also like to thank our service men and women who are currently or who have served in the past.
My most special Thank you goes to the men and women who did not return. I pray God this country never ever forgets the sacrifices they and their families have given for our freedom.
Lets celebrate the holiday but lets also remember from whom and why we are able to do so.
U.S.M.C. Semper Fi !!!

TPerez - hi and thanks for posting! I hope you get everything you need and get a decent discount.
I have just over 1 year to go to retirement...July 1, 2006 is the big day and I'll have 32 years and 11 days of active duty time under my belt. Then - I have to grow up and decide what I'll do for a living. (I enlisted right out of high school - my parents had to sign the papers because I was only 17.) The way the BRAC process works, I'm not even sure a final decision will be made by the date I retire...
I'm with you on the special thanks. We all owe them! As I've seen in other places - If You Can Read This - Thank a Teacher...If It's in English - Thank a Veteran! Regards! Jim D/West Point, VA
