I would like to try to repaaint my kitchen cabinets myself, rather than having them completely replaced. They are wood cabinents (but are pretty cheap wood)with one or two coats on a semi-gloss white paint (although it really looks flat).

What is the best way to go about doing this?
1. Do I need to strip the old paint off first? If yes, how is that done?
2. If I don't have to strip the old paint, I assume I still have to sand. What grade sandpaper? Do I then need a tack cloth?
3. Do I need a primer? What kind? What do I ask for?
4. What kind of paint should I use? Do I need a top coat after I paint? how many coats of paint do I need?

Recommendations on priers and pant brands are helpful, as well as step by step advice on how to go about doing this.

Thanks
