Ive change the spark plug, which improved it, but stalls outand wont keep running. I also notice this kinda spring action area on the machine , which I believe has something to do with the choke. I monkied around with it,... and made the spring a little tighter...well that work, but but not properly, because the engine was then racing!!! Id like to be able to fix this problem my self..any suggestions

- lawn mower wont keep running
Welcome Neecie,
Usually mower engines need a bit of TLC to keep them going. The things you tried are probably ones I'd have tried myself!
Other things to try: The AIR FILTER. Did you clean it out? These things are notorious for kind of getting plugged up. It's usually a sponge-like thing; worth cleaning out.
Also: Gas. If it's been sitting in there for a while (months, years) it might have fouled. I run it dry (if possible) and re-fill. Of course if you must drain, please find a fitting place for it.
As for the choke, well, this can do it too. Perhaps you over-adjusted? If it seemed to be racing, this is a possibility.
If these ideas don't help, try finding a helpful neighbor to look at it. There's usually someone in the neighborhood who's no stranger to small gas engines and would love to help out. Good luck!

Yes, to all of your info... I think it might be that I over adjusted the little spring thats attached to the choke,.... because it did race after that.., so I tried to put it back to where it had been, which stopped the racing..oops!! I'll tinker around with it, and take yourother suggestion. Thanks so much for your input...I usually can firure things out after awhile and with a few pointer's. Being a single Female home owner I am finding this sight just packed with info!!!
Have a great weekend, and good luck with that thing! :)
